I referred to Arm Throw in my previous entry, but I didn't quite touch on it. Today's post will be just that; touching on the greatest script I have written thus far.
Arm Throw revolves around Romero and his wrestling team. Romero is a high school student with a somewhat rough family life at home. He longs for a stable family dynamic but he knows that it will likely never be possible. He inadvertently finds his second family in his wrestling team. His goal is to win a match and prove to himself that he is strong, both mentally and physically.
I began writing the story based on my experiences with my old wrestling team in Tennessee. I felt so lonely and so disappointed by my family that I tried to consume my time with my team and school in general. As my family fell apart, I took solace in knowing that I could escape reality just by going to practice and going to tournaments and meets. That, and I love the sport in general.
Part of me feels weird for writing a story secretly about myself. But, that's the thing; the best stories come from the struggles we personally face.
This film has the potential to be successful, and the majority of my time this school year has been spent writing and writing this screenplay.
