Guerrilla Film Progress

This weekend, me and the classmates in my group will shoot for our Valentine's Day weekend guerrilla film. I am "co-writer" of the script and I am working on a storyboard and shot-list which is a lot of work. For production I will take on the role of cinematographer while my friend, Myles, directs.

New Arm Throw Scenes

Part of my "quest" to revise Arm Throw revolves around emphasizing certain plots and limiting certain scenes, such as the wrestling tournaments. I feel like those scenes would be too hard for us to create. On top of that, I'd much rather have the script build up to a single wrestling meet at the end to make it more special and sentimental.

On Arm Throw (Continued); The Bond Between Music and Film

I feel as though every film has that one song that "represents" it or correlates with it in some way. Perhaps that song is used in promotional videos for the film, or it's used in the film itself (trailers for televised shows do this quite often). Maybe the lyrics bear semblance to the plot, or the instrumentals fit with the feel of the film. For Arm Throw, that song is "The Ghost of You" by My Chemical Romance. Early last fall, I began to listen to the band somewhat religiously. Somewhere along that way I discovered the aforementioned song and listened to it on repeat as I wrote the first drafts of Arm Throw. The lyrics and the sheer intensity of the guitar and its raw vocals are a perfect match for the events that transpire in the story. In "The Ghost of You", Gerard Way sings about loss, tragedy and regret. The lyrics may be specific, but it can be interpreted in whatever way allows the listener to relate. It's a song I hope...

Coronavirus and Film

We naturally create a single film every semester. That would be the case this semester and onto the next one with The Last Rung on the Ladder. Unfortunately, we were sidetracked by the coronavirus which has essentially halted the globe to a standstill. In a more local manner, it has halted our schools, and, consequentially, our ability to film. As for my one-month absence, the coronavirus is mostly why. Up until last week, I had no way to do my online assignments as my computer was broken. My film teacher was generous enough to lend me an iMac from the school to do work, film work especially; I just now got around to updating my blog, so hopefully I'll be able to complete the required amount of posts on time!
